Climate Crisis Protest at JPMorgan Chase

Ending climate change requires the ending of capitalism!

Alongside people from Extinction Rebellion and American Indian Movement, the Southern California club (Greg Rose Club) of the Party of Communists USA showed solidarity against JPMorgan Chase & Co. over its contribution to the climate crisis.

JPMorgan Chase is the world’s top backer of fossil fuels; the bank provided more than $196 billion in financing to fossil fuel companies since 2016.

These projects sentence the world to deadly climate change and are directly linked to the kidnapping and murder of indigenous people.

Stopping this money pipeline is one of the most important ways we can address the climate emergency.

We have the power! Use your wallet and your voice! Demand that Chase stop funding climate destruction. Divest now! Learn how at: xrla.org/divest

Additional Information

Water shortages: The UN predicts that by 2050, more than 5 billion people (around half the predicted world population) will suffer water shortages for at least one month a year.

Extreme weather: Flooding, wildfires and storms will kill and injure many more. A 4°C rise will leave 74% of people living in an area exposed to deadly heat.

Disease: Higher temperatures and increasing poverty will promote the spread of disease. The geographic range of diseases such as malaria and dengue fever will be affected, putting hundreds of millions more at risk.

Forced mass migration: Rising sea levels, combined with the issues above, will force people to be displaced from their homes on a scale far beyond anything seen in human history. The UN warns of anything from tens to hundreds of millions of climate refugees by 2050.

Conflict: As resources become scarcer and societies are put under increased environmental stress the likelihood of war and conflict (potentially even nuclear) will increase.
